HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012001 - 2001-304 ��101y 6 IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING THE CONTRIBUTIONS OF RON RAAB FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO THE CITY OF SAN RAMON RESOLUTION NO.2001/304 Whereas, Ron Raab was first elected to the San Ramon City Council in November, 1995;and Whereas,Ron was re-elected in 1999 and received the highest number of votes out of eight candidates; and Whereas,he served as liaison to the City of San Ramon's Environmental Affairs Advisory Committee and as the City's Redevelopment Agency chair,and was a member of the Tri-Valley Economic Vitality Projectand Tri-Valley Vision 2010;and Whereas,he was instrumental in negotiations for acquiring 11 acres in Bishop Ranch forthe City's Civic Center,and Whereas, through his leadership, the annual San Ramon Child Safety Seat Inspection program was developed,and Whereas,he spearheaded San Ramon's drive to become a Tree City,U.S.A.—one of only 120 cities in the State,and Whereas,he had a critical role in the development of the Calaveras Ridge Trail,in cooperation with the East Bay Regional Park District, and was instrumental in the identification and restoration of San Ramon creeks;and Whereas,Ron led the support for the construction of gymnasiums at Iron Horse and Pine Valley Middle Schools;and Whereas, he spearheaded the passage of the City's"No Smoking in and around Tot Lots"Ordinance and promoted the completion of the very successful City dog park,and Whereas, Ron has been a steadfast advocate for community involvement in the government process and a proponent of citizen decision for elected Mayor,and Whereas,he has been a leader in advocating for small business owners in the City of San Ramon;and Whereas,Ron has been an active community volunteer,participating in the City's DARE Triathlon,in the annual Forest Home Farms Clean-up Days,and in the San Ramon Day for Habitat for Humanity, NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED THAT the contributions of Ron Raab to the City of San Ramon and Contra Costa County are recognized and appreciated, and that best wishes are extended to him on the occasion of his move to Virginia.
