HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012001 - 2001-200 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Proclaiming May 17, 2001 Bike to Work Day 2001 RESOL UTION NO. 20011200 WHEREAS, breathing clean air is vital to healthy lungs and life; WHEREAS, the County of Contra Costa acknowledges that cycling to work is a successful rideshare mode to alleviate traffic congestion, reduce air pollution and reduce dependence on oil; and WHEREAS, bike-to-work days have proven effective in converting drivers into bicyclists and educating citizens about the environmental importance of biking to work regularly; and WHEREAS, the County of Contra Costa encourages its employees and citizens to bike to work, in order to improve air quality and promote the health benefits of cycling; and WHEREAS, cities and counties throughout California are promoting Thursday, May 17, 2001, as a statewide bike-to-work day; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOL VED, that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors do hereby proclaim May 17, 2001, as Contra Costa County Bike-to-Work Day. PASSED AND ADOPTED ON May 15, 2001, by a unanimous vote of the Board members present. I hereby certif. That the foregoing is a true and correct copy of an order entered on the Minutes of said Board of Supervisors on the aforesaid date.
