Diablo State Park's Sd' Birthday RESOLUTION NO. 20011157 uwEREA6; Mt. Diablo is a significant visual landmark for residents throughout Contra Costa County and Northern California; and timEREAS, Mt. Diablo is at the heart of open space which serves as a recreational and wildlife corridor in Contra Costa County; and GmERFA,S Mt. Diablo is vital to the quality of life for the citizens and wildlife of our community; and WHEREAS the amount of Publicly held open space on and around Mt. Diahlo has increased from 6,800 to over 80,000 in the past 30 years; and WHEREAS this year marks the 80" anniversary of the designation of Mt. Diablo as a State Park and the 70"anniversary of its opening to the public; and WHEREAS, several other notable anniversaries are occurring this year, including, Save Mount Diablo's 30" anniversary, and the 150" anniversary of the establishment of Mt. Diablo as the Initial Point for the surveying of most of California and all of Nevada; and RWEREAS a celebration to honor Mt. Diablo State Park's 80th anniversary, sponsored by Save Mount Diablo, Museum of the San Ramon Valley, Mount Diablo State Park, Mount Diablo Interpretive Association and Mount Diablo Surveyors' Historical Association, will be held on May 5, 2001. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors extends best wishes to Mt. Diablo State Park celebrating its 80,h birthday on Saturday, May 5'h, 2001.
