HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012001 - 2001-011 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY,-STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring Phyllis Peterson, ) Retiring;Clayton City Council Member ) RESOL UTION NO. 2001111 WHEREAS, Phyllis Peterson retired from the Clayton City Council after serving for four years and was Mayor of the City of Clayton from 1999 to 2000; and ,WHEREAS, Phyllis Peterson has a distinguished career in education, having received the Harry Buttimer Distinguished Administrator Award, the Outstanding United States Community College President Award from the University of Texas and she is also listed in Who's Who in California. She was graduated from Stanford University with her A.B and M.A. and earned her Education Degree at Brigham Young University. Phyllis was president of Diablo Valley College for twelve years and is currently employed as Special Assistant to the President for Community College Relations at Saint Marys College in Moraga; and WHEREAS, Phyllis Peterson is the current President of Concord Club of Rotary International, and a JFK University Regent and a member of the Clayton Business and Community Association; and WHEREAS, Phyllis Peterson has also served on various Advisory Committees including the Conflict Resolution Panels and the Center for New Americans; and WHEREAS, Phyllis Peterson still finds time to do the things she loves, including traveling, walking and hiking. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Supervisor DeSaulnier hereby honors Phyllis Peterson for her exemplary contribution's to education and for her service to the Community.
