HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012000 - 2000-335 M6 2 e,7�0/ye ��✓' C..i/ �t;:,,/ ��:-�' L/ a �1:"' ' In the Matter of the Contra Costa County ) Building Inspection Department receiving an ) Achievement Award from the National Association) of Counties (NACo) for its program entitled ) Building 2000 — Vision of the Future ) RESOLUTION NO. 2000/335 Whereas the National Association of Counties' (NACo) Achievement Award Program is a non-competitive program that recognizes counties for improving the management of and services provided by county government; and Whereas NACo's Achievement Award Program has honored hundreds of county government initiatives that have improved service delivery, achieved greater cost efficiency, provided finer customer service and helped to develop a better trained work force; and Whereas NACo's Achievement Award Program enhances NACo's awareness of county activities and allows them to share valuable information with other counties from throughout the nation and has provided an extensive database of successful county programs; and Whereas Contra Costa County submitted 2 applications out of a total of 719 applications received from throughout the nation, as all counties and state associations of counties were eligible to apply; and Whereas the Building Inspection Department submitted an entry entitled Building 2000 — Vision of the Future. This program was initiated by the Building Inspection Department to increase public awareness and understanding of building inspection services and building code requirements by using various forms of media such as television, newsletters, public service announcements and the Internet; and Whereas NACo selected the Building 2000 — Vision of the Future entry as a winner under the Civic Education and Public Information category; the winners representing 28 states, 115 counties and one state association; and Whereas Contra Costa County has received three other achievement awards. In 1989 our winners were "Emergency Management" and "Paperless Parking Citation System" and in 1998 our winner was "Kids Like Maria" Foster and Adoptive Parent Recruitment; and Whereas the Building Inspection Department has won this prestigious award and has brought great honor, pride, and recognition to our County; and NOW, THEREFORE, RE IT RESOLVED that this Board takes great pleasure in congratulating the Building Inspection Department for their hard work in promoting responsible, responsive and effective county government.
