HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012000 - 2000-300 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopt this Order on June 6 2000 by the following vote: AYES: SiJfmsms GIOTA, LrnFE4F , nEsN=, CVU*9I1A NOES: none ABSENT: none ABSTAIN: r SUBJECT: In the Matter of Adjusting the Salary ) Step Placement and Anniversary ) Gates for Certain Sheriff's Dispatchers ) Resolution No 2000/300 WHEREAS the Sheriffs Department has actively pursued an aggressive program of recruitment and promotion for employees in the mission-critical and hard-to-fill positions of Sheriff's Dispatcher, including advanced step salary placement for experienced persons hired in the skilled classification of Sheriff's Dispatcher 11; and WHEREAS the previously established salary ranges of Sheriffs Dispatcher I and 11, coupled with provisions of the County Salary Regulations created inequities in actual compensation of the dispatchers; and WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors approved Position Adjustment Request No. 18382, effective October 1, 1999, which converted the five-step salary range for Sheriff's Dispatcher 11 to a four-step range by eliminating the lowest step and thus correcting the inequitable relationship with the salary range for Sheriff's Dispatcher I prospectively; and WHEREAS it has been recently brought to the attention of the Sheriff's Department that certain employees hired as Dispatchers 11 prior to October 1, 1999, are subject to the effects of the prior Salary structure; and WHEREAS provisions of the County Salary Regulations do not contemplate the unique circumstances involved in this matter and must be supplemented by extra action of the Board; NOW THEREFORE: It is recommended by the Sheriff-Coroner and the Director of Human Resources, that the Board correct the aforementioned salary inequity; the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors RESOLVES THAT: Effective on the dates noted, the salary step of the named employees in the class of Sheriff's Dispatcher 11 shall be as indicated below. The affected employees" anniversary dates will also be adjusted as noted.
