HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012000 - 2000-228 Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County,State of California IN THE MATTER OF PROCLAIMING ) RESOLUTION NO.2000/228 MAY,2000 AS "DROWNING PREVENTION ) MONTH" ) WHEREAS,in California, drowning is the leading cause of injury related deaths among children under the age of five; and WHEREAS,the majority of child drownings occur in residential swimming pools; and WHEREAS, children who survive drowning accidents often suffer permanent brain damage; and WHEREAS,the Contra Costa Health Services Department and the Drowning Prevention Foundation, in cooperation with the Department of Developmental Services, has developed a public education awareness program to promote drowning prevention; and WHEREAS, drowning accidents tend to occur during the warm weather months of April through October; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED,that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors do hereby proclaim May, 2000 as"Drowning Prevention Month".
