HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01012000 - 2000-225 Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County,State of California IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING THE ) RESOLUTION NO. 2000/225 CONTRIBUTION OF THE CHINESE ) AMERICAN POLITICAL ASSOCIATION'S ) COMMUNITY EDUCATION FUND FOR ) ITS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM FOR YOUTH) IN GOVERNMENT,AND FOR ITS ) COMMUNITY EDUCATION ACTIVITIES ) WHEREAS,the Chinese American Political Association("CAPA") is a non-partisan, non-profit, educational and political organization of the Chinese-American community in the Bay Area; WHEREAS, CAPA was founded in 1984 with the mission to raise the political awareness of Chinese-Americans and to encourage their active participation in the political process of the United States; WHEREAS, CAPA established its Community Education Fund, a 501(c)(3)tax exempt organization,to provide financial support for Chinese Americans that promotes full participation in the political process, services, and leadership and in community improvement activities; WHEREAS,the CAPA Community Education Fund has been highly active and successful in funding and arranging for internships for students in the offices of elected leaders at the local, state and national levels, including members of the Board of Supervisors; WHEREAS, on May 20,2000,the CAPA Community Education Fund will hold Vision 2000, its annual fund-raising event for this year, at the Walnut Creek Marriott Hotel; NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County recognizes and commends the Chinese American Political Association's Community Education Fund for its contributions to youth in government and its commitment to and accomplishments in community education for Asian Americans generally.
