THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA
Proclaiming International Building Safety Week )
April 3 — 10, 2000 ) Resolution No. 2000/143
WHEREAS, the Building Inspection Department wishes to promote the use and
understanding of construction and building code worldwide;
WHEREAS, the Building Inspection Department personnel wishes to demonstrate to the
People they serve how the construction of safe, sound and accessible buildings is
achieved.
WHEREAS, Code Officials from around the world will be actively endorsing
International Building Safety Week with the goal of increasing public awareness of the
considerable life-safety services available from their building departments.
WHEREAS, additional goals are to enhance communication among building
departments, community residents, and local builders and developers and to help reduce
misunderstandings during construction;
WHEREAS, this event's focus is international, reflecting the decision of the U.S. model
code groups to join forces and face the future of codes and standards together in our ever-
shrinking global economy.
AND WHEREAS, International Building Safety Week is the perfect opportunity to help
promote a lasting public interest in the operations of building departments;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we the County Board of Supervisors for
Contra Costa proclaim April 3 — 10, 2000, as International Safety Building Week and
encourage all citizens to participate in understanding the important and complex job of
building officials in building safe communities.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON APRIL 4, 2000 by unanimous vote of the Board
members present.
