SUBJECT: Victim/Witness Assistance Program
RESOLUTION OF THE GOVERNING BOARD 2000/5
WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors, Contra Costa County,has designated the
Contra Costa County Victim/Witness Assistance Program as the provider of major
and comprehensive victim and witness services in Contra Costa County; and
WHEREAS,the State Board of Control has selected the Contra Costa County
Victim/Witness Assistance Program to receive"Joint Powers"monies for the purpose of
verification of victim claims; and
WHEREAS,the State Board of Control has allocated $122,861 for fiscal year
1999-2000 for the Contra Costa County Victim/Witness Assistance Program for this
specific task;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the County Probation Officer of
the County of Contra Costa is authorized, on its behalf, to sign the attached JOINT
POWERS AGREEMENT with the State Board of Control to receive monies to operate a
Victim/Witness Assistance Center and is further authorized to sign for the purposes of
making any extension or amendment thereof.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the State funds received hereunder shall not
be used to supplant local funds that would, in the absence of the California Victim/
Witness Assistance Program, be made available to support assistance to the victims of
crime.
