RESOLUTYTON IN RECOGNITION OF THE RESOLUTION NO. 99/206
LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN FOR THE
SPECIAL OLYMPICS, JUNE 16, 1999
WHEREAS, Since 1954, law enforcement officers have logged over 500,000 miles running in support
of Special Olympics; and
WHEREAS, This year, law enforcement officers will run in all 50 states and the District of Columbia
to officially commence the Summer Special Olympics Games; and
WHEREAS, Law Enforcement agencies in Contra Costa County will carry the torch and run for
Special Olympics on June 16, 1999; and
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County wholeheartedly supports Special Olympics as the world's largest
year-round sports training and competition program for mentally retarded children and adults; and
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County wishes to "Join the World of Winners" and also commend the
efforts of law enforcement in support of Special Olympics.
NOW, THERET'ORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does
hereby proclaim June 16, 1999 as "'TORCH RUM`DAY".
PASSED by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors present this 4th day of May, 1999.
