HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011999 - 99-119 i The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County In the Matter of Resolution No. 99:1119 DECLARING THE MONTH OF APRIL,1999 AS PARLIAMENTARY LAW MONTH IN CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WHEREAS,Parliamentary law is the cornerstone of a democratic society in observance of the principles of justice,adherence to order,and enforcement of law with protection of the rights of all;and WHEREAS,these principles have contributed immeasurably to the development of America's legal system and government;and WHEREAS, the knowledge and practice of parliamentary procedures facilitates the orderly and expeditious conduct of business in every kind of meeting and gathering;and WHEREAS,General Henry Robert,author of Rules of Order,America's widely accepted parliamentary authority for deliberative assemblies,was born 162 years ago this year; and WHEREAS,the California Association of Parliamentarians,a Division of the National Association of Parliamentarians,promotes an understanding of the importance of parliamentary procedures in advancing the ideals of fairness and justice in a democratic society. NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra.Costa, California,does hereby declare the month of April, 1999 as "PARLIAMENTARY LAW MONTH"in Contra Costa County,California.
