HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011999 - 1999-631 The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County In the Matter of Resolution No 99/631 HONORING SAINT JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH ON ITS 75TH ANNIVERSARY. WHEREAS, Saint John the Baptist Church has been a respected community institution in West Contra Costa County for 75 years; and WHEREAS, Saint John the Baptist Church was founded by the Italian and Portuguese families that lived in the El Cerrito area; and WHEREAS, on Friday, December 17, 1999 at the Galileo Club in Richmond, Saint John the Baptist Church will be celebrating its 75'h anniversary with a special community dinner; and WHEREAS, this special event is being sponsored by the Italian community of Saint John the Baptist Church, and will feature a traditional Italian dinner; and WHEREAS, Saint John the Baptist Church has an array of programs in which its members may participate, including a weekly performing adult choir, a grief group that provides support for parishioners grieving over the death of loved ones, and a bible study group that studies scriptures through informal discussions led by a Jesuit seminarian; and WHEREAS, additional programs include a Children's Choir, aCatholics` Divorced, Widowed and Separated Support Croup, Children's Religious Education, and a Church Environmental Committee; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does hereby publicly recognize and commend Saint John the Baptist Church for its 75 years of service to its members and the entire West Contra Costa County community.
