FREEMAN FOR HER SEVENTEEN ) YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE SUPERVISORS } AND CONSTITUENTS OF CONTRA COSTA ) COUNTY ) RESOLUTION NO. 99/518 Whereas, Helen Freeman, a native of northern Idaho,moved to Pinole via southern California with her family over twenty-seven years ago where she immediately became involved in the life of her community; and Whereas,prior to working for Contra Costa County, Helen had interesting jobs with many illustrious employers, including Proctor& Gamble, Lockheed, Guy F. Atkinson Company, Breuner's, Capwell's, and John Swett Unified School District; Whereas, seventeen years ago, Helen went to the West Contra Costa County office of a member of the Contra Costa Board of Supervisors to "help out"and distinguished herself in so many ways that she quickly became indispensable; and Whereas,Helen Freeman has the distinction of having served four different county supervisors, Tom Powers,Jim Rogers, Jeff Smith, and Donna Gerber; and Whereas,Helen has been a powerful advocate for the constituents of Contra Costa County and,a tremendous support and resource to her colleagues; and Whereas, she has also donated considerable personal time to being an activist for women and has served selflessly as president and six-year board member of the YWCA of Contra Costa County, Treasurer of the National Women's Political Caucus, and Chair of the West Contra Costa Women's Forum; and Whereas,Helen has also dedicated herself to other community activities as a member of the Pinole Friendship Committee, as a cable TV commissioner, as City of Pinole Community Center Review committee member, and president and three-year board member of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program: NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County commends Helen L. Freeman for the seventeen years of service to the residents of Contra Costa County and wishes her well as she moves to Lake County and a happy retirement.
