HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011999 - 1999-510 STATE OF CALIFORNIA, COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA BOARD OF SUPERVISORS In the Matter of Recognizing and Honoring ) KPIX 5 TV, Brian Sussman and the 10th ) No. 991510 Anniversary of"Brian's Kids" ) WHEREAS, KPIX 5 TV launched the first "Brian's Kids"television spot in April, 1990 in order to recruit adoptive homes for Bay Area foster children and has been on the air ever since in the San Francisco Bay Area, a major media market; and WHEREAS, Brian Sussman brings to "Brian's Kids"a personal commitment to foster care and adoption; and WHEREAS, Brian Sussman has a magical ability to capture on air the essence of the profiled children and in doing so, he gives hope to every foster and adoptive child, and WHEREAS, KPIX 5 TV donates $650,000 annually for producing and broadcasting "Brian's Kids,"maintaining ongoing visibility for children in need of foster care and adoptive homes; and WHEREAS, the "Brian's Kids"hotline and website continue to serve as education resource and referral tools to callers interested in foster care and adoption. The hotline has received over 100 calls from Contra Costa residents in the last 18 months; and in the past two years, two children have been adopted into loving and nurturing families. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors wishes to honor, congratulate and thank KPIX 5 TV and BRIAN SUSSMAN for making significant contributions and differences in children's lives in the Bay Area; and BE 1T FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares October 25, 1999, as BRIAN SUSSMAN DAY in Contra Costa County. . .
