Whereas, a bridge of peace is a relationship of trust, respect and
cooperation between youth who do and see differently,and
Wherwx violence can begin with misunderstanding,fear,,competition,
distrust
and a lack.of cooperation between people
of diversity;and j
Whereas, ,revery child deserves to grow up safe and healthy;-free from real
or perceived threats of violence;and
Whereas, West Contra Costa County continues Its commitment to crime
and violence prevention,safe streets and environments where
youth of diversity can interact and achieve peace,education
and happiness;and

Whereas, The Memorial Committee for West Contra Costa County Youth
Who Died By Violence was formed In May I",: by

Whereas, on May 23, 1999,at 2.00 PM,The Memorial Committee for
"West Contra Costa County Youth Who Died By Violence will
host a dedication ceremony unveiling the benches that have
been painted by community and memorial. committee members
in commemoration of friends and loved ones of youth who

have died by violence r
Now, Therefore,Be&Resolved that the Contra'Costa County Board bf
