In the Matter of Implementing an Resolution No. 98/616
Extended Salary Range (Deep Class)
for the Class of Animal Services Officer
Whereas, the Board of Supervisors has enacted Resolution 83/1, as amended,referred to as the Salary
Regulations, and Section 20 of that Resolution relates to the compensation and terms and conditions of
employment for deep classes, AND
Whereas, the Animal Services Director has requested that the salary range for the class of Animal
Services Officer(BJWD)be extended beyond five (5) steps to allow necessary flexibility in the
recruitment and retention of Officers: NOW THEREFORE:
THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS in its capacity as governing Board of
the County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio governing Board RESOLVES
THAT:
1. Salary Ranke: Effective December 1, 1998, the class of Animal Services Officer (BJWD) is
reallocated from five-step salary schedule/level M50 1708 ($2506 - $3046) to seven-step salary
schedule/level M50 1708 ($2506 - $3358).
2. St=Placement of Incumb=U: Effective December 1, 1998, all incumbents in the
class shall be placed on the new salary range and the same step (1-5) where they are currently
placed. No current employees shall be initially placed under this action at steps six (6) or seven (7).
3 Advancement of Incumbents to Stepp 6 and 7: Steps 6 and 7 shall be considered as regular merit
steps and , upon satisfactory performance and affirmative recommendation of the appointing
authority, incumbents may be advanced to Step 6 and to Step 7 on their annual anniversary date.
4. Inti 1ppoir�tments: No permanent or limited-term initial appointments to the class may be made
above Step 5.
5. Other ProvisiQ s: Except as may be changed or modified by resolution hereafter, all provisions of
the County Salary Regulations are applicable to this deep class.
