HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011998 - 1998-480 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this order on September 2 2 , 19 9 8 , by the following vote: AYES: SUPERVISORS UILKEMA, GERBER, DESAULNIER, CANCIAMILLA and ROGERS NOES: NONE ABSENT: NONE ABSTAIN: NONE SUBJECT: In the Matter of Implementing an Extended Salary Range (Deep Class) Resolution No 981 4 8 4 for Deputy Sheriff- Per Diem Whereas, the Board of Supervisors has enacted Resolution 8311, as amended, referred to as the Salary Regulations, and Section 20 of that Resolution relates to the compensation and terms and conditions of employment for deep classes; AND Whereas the Sheriff-Coroner has requested that the salary range for the class of Deputy Sheriff - Per Diem, which is utilized to provide limited supplemental law enforcement services on an hourly- paid basis, be extended to allow necessary flexibility in the employment of qualified individuals with certain specialized or hard-to-recruit skills, NOW THEREFORE: THE CONTRA COSTA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISOR in its capacity as governing board of the County of Contra Costa and all districts of which it is ex-officio governing Board RESOLVES THAT: 1. Salary Range: Effective September 1, 1998, the class of Deputy Sheriff- Per Diem (BXWC) is reallocated from salary schedulellevel C5 1782 ($2619 - $3183) containing five steps to salary schedule/level M50 1752 ($2619 - $4479) containing steps 1-12. Compensation shall be at the hourly equivalent of the monthly step to which the employee is assigned. 2. Appointment to tep& The appointing authority may make a limited-term appointment to Deputy Sheriff - Per Diem at the hourly equivalent of any level in the 12 Step salary range. Guidelines for appointment are: Steps 1-5 to be generally utilized for the employment of persons providing supplemental law enforcement services in Court Services and Detention assignments. Steps 7-12 shall be designated as Advanced Steps and are generally to be utilized for other specialized assignments as defined in the Deputy Sheriff - Per Diem job specification. 3. Step Placement of Incumbents: Any and all persons currently employed in this class and compensated at the hourly equivalent of Steps 1 - 5 shall be continued on the new salary range at the same step and same rate of pay as on the existing range. No current hourly-paid employee shall be appointed to an hourly equivalent pay rate above Step 5 unless placed in a specialized assignment. 4. Other Provisions: Except as may be changed or modified by resolution hereafter, all provisions of the Salary Regulations relating to limited-term employment status are applicable to this Deputy Sheriff- Per Diem deep class. cc: County Administrator- Human Resources I hereby certify that this is a true and correct Sheriff- Coroner copy of an action taken and entered on the Auditor - Controller minutes of the card of Supervisors on the date shown.
