IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING FRANK J.ANGELO ) Resolution No. 98437
ON HIS 80th BIR THDAYAND 51 YEARS OF SERVICE TO )
THE CITIZENS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY )
WHEREAS, Frank J. Angelo was born in Chicago, Illinois on September 2, 1918, and spent his
youth in the windy city; and
WHEREAS,Frank Angelo served as the Sanitation Officer at Camp Stoneman during World War
II making sure that his Army mandated inspections of food plants of the Bay Area were coordinated
with the local health Officers; and
WHEREAS,the Contra Costa County Health Officers asked Mr.Angelo to come to work for Contra
Costa County as a contract sanitarian when he was discharged from the Army in 1946; and
WHEREAS,Frank Angelo took and passed his Sanitarian Registration Examination in the City of
Berkeley on November 20, 1947, and there are currently only thirteen living sanitarians who have
been registered longer than Mr. Angelo; and
WHEREAS, Frank Angelo has always practiced and taught staff that you deal with people not
situations,that practical applications and solutions are best, and that liaison with city, county state,
and federal governmental agencies are a critical element of work; and
WHEREAS,Frank Angelo was appointed to the Governor's Commission on Migrant Workers, the
State Hospital Commission, the On-Site-Sewage Disposal Committee of the Federal Housing
Authority,has lectured on environmental health at the University of California,Berkeley,the United
States Navy Medical Training Center, and Diablo Valley College; and
WHEREAS,Frank Angelo received the National Safety Council Award from President Eisenhower
for the work he completed on drowning prevention for our county; and
WHEREAS,Frank Angelo retired from county service in April 1978 as Supervising Environmental
Health Specialist only to return to county service on a continuous basis as a retired annuitant or
contract employee since 1978; and
WHEREAS, Frank Angelo has served as the Environmental.health representative at the Permit
Center since its inception; now,therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby recognizes
Frank J. Angelo
on his 80th birthday, expresses their appreciation to and admiration of Mr. Angelo for his 51 years
of service to the citizens of Contra Costa County, and recognizes the example he has set and
continues to set, of how public services should be delivered.
Passed by vote of the Board members present on this 1st day of September, 1998.
