HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011998 - 1998-355 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNT', STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring the CC.7ArlYBUTORS ) TO 7HE COA7M COSTA COL A72rY ) RESOLUTION NO. 98/355 VETE1 41VS'M0NUA1EAT REST0R9:770N WHEREAS, the Contra Costa County Veterans'Monument located in Pleasant Hill was first dedicated in 192?as a testimonial to the patriotic spirit which has kept our country free from military occupation and to honor the men and women who fought for our freedom; and WHEREAS, unfortunately, the years of exposure and lack of regular maintenance left the Monument in disrepair, and WHEREAS, in 1995, the Monument Preservation & Restoration Committee was formed to restore the Monument to its original condition and to arrange to preserve it forever, and WHEREAS, the restoration project has been a collaborative effort of government agencies, veterans'organizations, businesses, and individuals; and WHEREAS, on .Memorial Day 1998, after much hard work and commitment by the Ad Hoc Committee, the Monument was rededicated in front of a crowd of hundreds; and )WHEREAS, we wish to thank every person and organization who gave of their time and talents or who made a financial donation to restore this important piece of Contra Costa County history.
