HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011998 - 1998-271 TIME BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Resolution on May 19, 1998 , 1998, by the following vote: AYES: SUPERVISORS UILKEMA, GERBER, DESAUINIER, CANCIAMILT-A and ROGERS NOES: NONE ABSENT. • NONE ABSTAIN: NONE Subject: Provisions governing the classes of Assistant County Counsel-Exempt and Chief Resolution No. 98/ 271 Assistant County Counsel - Exempt The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors resolves that positions in the classes of Assistant County Counsel-Exempt and Chief Assistant County Counsel-Exempt, shall be subject to the following provisions: I. Salam Range The salary range for each class shall contain five steps structured at 5% intervals. 2. Appointment and Salary Steps a. Pyr motional lnitial Appointment: the County Counsel may make an initial appointment of a County employee to any step on the salary range, provided however, that a promotional appointment must result in at least a Eve percent (5%) salary increase, if the salary schedule for the level to which the position is assigned permits such an adjustment. b. Non-Promotional Initial ApWintDent: The County Counsel may make a non- promotional appointment to any step on the salary range, provided, however, no such initial appointment may be made at other than the first step of the salary range without the written approval of the County Administrator and/or Human Resources Director. c. Salary Adjustments: After initial appointment, the County Counsel may increase or decrease the appointee's salary to any step on the involved class salary range once each year, provided that the top two steps of the Chief Assistant County Counsel - Exempt salary range shall be awarded only in the event of outstanding performance. No provision of this resolution shall be construed to make the maintenance or advancement of salary steps mandatory.. 3. Tenure. Service in the classes of Assistant County Counsel-Exempt and Chief Assistant County Counsel-Exempt shall be at the discretion of the County Counsel, but the appoltitment shall, in any event, expire after two years unless the County Counsel makes a further ttivo-year appointnnent. No person may obtain a vested right to continued appointment in either class. 4. Reversionary.Rights. Persons appointed to either class shall retain reversionary rights to the last non-exempt merit system position and salary step held prior to the appointment, and shall retain and accrue merit-system seniority in such non-exempt positions. 5. Salary M-Matigns. Except as otherwise provided herein the positions in both classes 2 are subject to the Contra Costa County salary regulations. 6. Authority ofChicf Assistant County Counsel-Exempt. The Chief Assistant County Counsel-Exempt stands next in authority to the County Counsel in all matters of departmental operation. 7, No.Apl2ointmentst s' t t nt o rise].
