HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011998 - 1998-228 HE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING ) THE RICHMOND BRANCH OF THE NAACP J RESOLUTION 98/228 WHEREAS, the work of the NAACP includes: Education • Actively working with the WCCUSD to bring a middle school to the City of Richmond. In addition to working on the development and implementation of school district Affirmative Action plan, and WHEREAS, the work of the NAACP also includes: Voter Empowerment and Education • Organized a comprehensive school board candidates night with live television coverage and viewer call-in participation. • Conduct continuous voter registration activities, in addition to the work to increase voter awareness and participation, and WHEREAS, the work of the NAACP also includes: Community • Worked with Richmond Police department to organize the Violence Reduction Summit, Parts I and co-sponsored Part 11. • Work to enhance the community involvement in local government and to increase the level of citizen input. No long left out and Lock out. NOW THEREFORE BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF CONTRA COSTA RESOLVED that the Board recognizes the fine work of the Richmond Chapter of the NAACP.
