WHEREAS, Ed Watters is a long-time Contra Costa County resident who has devoted his life
to helping others; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walters joined the Board of the Contra Costa Volunteer Services in 1991,
has served as both Treasurer and President, and has supported the,program as a donor as well as
a volunteer; and
WHEREAS, for 18 years, Mr. Walters was involved with Opportunity Camp, a camp that is
run exclusively for the disadvantaged youth active to the Contra Costa County Social Services
Department, and served as its director for 12 years; and
WHEREAS, from 1978 to 1985, Mr. Walters was a member of the Board of Directors for
Costa Christian School, and, when the school disbanded and became the Contra Costa
Education Fund, Mr. Walters began serving on its board, currently as Vice President; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Walters was also active in local schools, having volunteered for College Park
and Ygnacio Valley High Schools' wrestling programs and assisted with girls' softball and Little
League; and
WHEREAS, Contra Costa County is fortunate to have benefited from Mr. Walters
tremendous compassion and generosity of his time and talents, and we extend our sincere
gratitude for his efforts.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors ED
WALTERSfor his years of service to the Contra Costa County Social Services Department
Volunteer Services Board.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON Avril 21. 1998, by a unanimous vote of the Board members
