HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011998 - 1998-182 The .Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County In the Matter Of Resolution No. 981 .82 ADOPTION OF RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF APPROPRIATE JOB GROWTH AND JOB RETENTION IN EAST AND WEST CONTRA COSTA COUNTY WHEREAS, encouraging appropriate job growth and job retention in East and West County can significantly reduce the amount of traffic that congests our freeways; and WHEREAS, a comprehensive transportation management solution that includes appropriate job growth and job retention will help facilitate the completion of the economic development goals of Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, traffic congestion continues to rank as Contra Costa County's most significant problem in recent public opinion polls; and WHEREAS,much of Contra Costa County's traffic congestion is directional in nature, in that significant congestion results from traffic heading out of the County in the morning and into the County in the late afternoon; and WHEREAS, recent demographic information suggests that in the City of Pittsburg alone over 82%of employed residents commute to jobs outside the City; and WHEREAS, appropriate new job growth and job retention in East and 'West County would improve the jobs/housing balance in those sub-regions and reduce traffic congestion in Central County,particularly on the routes of regional significance, such as Highway 4. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of the County of Contra Costa, California does recognizes the need for and supports appropriate job growth, as well as job retention, in East and West Contra Costa County. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, this resolution shall take effect immediately upon adoption.
