HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011998 - 1998-164 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Declaring April 19.25, 1998, as } the WEEK OF?'HLAYOUNG CHILLI ) RESOLUTION NO. 98/164 in Contra Qota Qoii= ) WHEREAS, the 28'h celebration of the Week of the Young Child focuses public attention on the rights and needs of young children; and WHEREAS, the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) is sponsor for the celebration; and WHEREAS, this year's theme, "Early Years Are Learning Years...Make Thera. Count," emphasizes the importance of the early years for children's learning and all aspects of development; and WHEREAS, Week of the Young Child activities, planned and implemented by the 450 state and local early childhood organizations affiliated with NAFYC, remind us all that the early years lay the foundation for all later learning and shape whether children succeed in school and in life; and WHEREAS, the wide array of Week of the Young Child events share the common goals of Providing information and support to parents, building public support for high quality early childhood services that meet professional standards of quality, having sufficient numbers of qualified and adequately compensated staff, being affordable to families, recognizing the contributions of teachers, caregivers, and others for their contributions, and celebrating the wonders of childhood. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares April 19, 25, 1998 as the Tfi�.I:,l�1� OF THE�'C1UAG CHILD in Contra Costa County.
