HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011998 - 1998-109 �j IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Declaring March 18, 1998, ) as CIBECUEICONCORD ) RESOLUTION NO. 98/109 ENVIRONMENTAL EXQY"GEDAY ) in Contra Costa County ) WHEREAS, the CibecuelConcord Environmental Exchange Day is a celebration of culture, ideas, and friendship between students at Nueva Vista High School in Concord and students from the White Mountain Apache Tribe in Cibecue, Arizona; and WHEREAS, the exchange originates from a four-year partnership between Nueva Visa High School, the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, the Koret Foundation, and the City of Concord to promote environmental awareness through service learning by participation in riparian clean up, habitat enhancement, and natural resource monitoring; and WHEREAS, the day will end a week-long exchange that will begin on the White Mountain Apache Reservation in Cebecue with a study of forest health and work on watershed projects and related cultural activities, and WHEREAS, most importantly, Nueva Vista students will be exposed to life on a reservation, and, upon returning to Contra Costa County, the environmental diversity and the rich multicultural heritage of the Bay Area will be shared with the students of the tribe; and WHEREAS, the exchange will benefit the students, families, and the communities of Cubecue and Concord by creating an awareness of environmental and cultural diversity while, at the same time, allowing everyone involved to celebrate their similarities. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares March 18, 1998, as CIBECUEICONCORD EA RONMEN'TAL EXCIVANGE DAY in Contra Crista County.
