THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on February 24, 1998 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Uilkema, Gerber , DeSaulnier , Canciamilla, Rogers NOES: none ABSENT: none ABSTAIN: none SUBJECT: Approve Side Letter With AFSCME Local 512 ) Providing a Pay differential to Clerical ) Supervisors in the Social Service Department ) Res. 981 62 BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County APPROVES the attached Side Letter dated February 1 , 1998 between Contra Costa County and AFSCME Local 512 which provides for a pay differential to Clerical Supervisors in the Social Service Department assigned significant "Building Management" responsibilities. Employees in the classification of Clerical Supervisor assigned by the department to the building management duties outlined, in the Side Letter, on a day-to-day basis, shall receive a salary differential of ten percent (10%) of base pay. The criteria for assignment is as follows: 1. A significant amount of a Clerical Supervisor's time must be assigned to day to day building management functions such as: * assisting with space utilization, office layout/reconfiguration and implementation. * initiating work orders and acting as liaison person with General Services personnel and the Department Facilities Manager regarding building and grounds maintenance issues; these duties include significant ongoing contacts with Operating Engineers, other trade persons and their supervisors. It also includes providing functional direction to custodians regarding work priorities or non-routine requests. * writing under own signature or signature of the Building Manager memorandums to staff on unique building policies and procedures. 2. Clerical Supervisors must be responsible for either a) one or more buildings, housing at least 130 employees, or b) must be in a designated building undergoing significant structural difficulties and/or construction activities. The following assignments currently qualify for the differential: Antioch; 30 Muir; 40 Muir/CMSE; 40 Doug las/ARM/Enea; Hercules; Marina West; Weber/Harbor. 3. Designation and removal of individuals' assigned building management functions is at the sole discretion of the Social Service Department; overall coordination of facilities management for the Department is not assigned to the Clerical Supervisor class. Effective February 1, 1997. employees in the classification of Clerical Supervisor assigned by the department these building management duties shall receive a salary differential of ten percent (10%) of base pay.
