Box 222 Martinez, CA 94558 Dear Mr. Clarke: In an effort to address the pay disparity issues resulting from the application of Pay Equity adjustments to the classification of Probation Counselor III (PC Ili), the parties agree as follows: 1 . Movement from the PC III classification to the Deputy Probation Officer 11 (DPO II) classification is considered a promotion. Accordingly, the salary range of DPO 11 will be increased eight (8) levels (0.8028%) on the salary schedule effective January 1 , 1997. 2. From this date forward, each time the class of PC III receives a Pay Equity salary adjustment, the class of DPO 11 will receive an equivalent "spin-off" salary adjustment. The DPO II classification will no longer receive these pay adjustments after the classification of PC III receives its final Pay Equity allocation. 3. As a result of these adjustments, the step placement, anniversary date and seniority date of the affected individuals promoted to DPO II since January 1 , 1997, are as reflected on the attached spreadsheet. All pay adjustments are being made retroactively and will have 'no negative financial impact on the affected employees.
