1997 WESTERN REGION NATIONAL POOL AND]
WATERpARK LIFEGUARDINGQHAR lQNSI-IIP] RESOLUTION NO. 97/415
Whereas,The City of San Ramon Parks and Community Department Olympic Pool Staff
won the National Pool and Waterpark Lifeguarding Championship for the second year in
a row on July 16, 1997, at Wild Island Waterpark in Sparks,Nevada; and
Whereas,the team members included: Recreation Coordinator Greg Avakian,Kyle
Breton,Alex Chan, Sheryl Dietzmann,Amy Doyle, Stacy Doyle,Dave Kolda,Naomi
Roudman, Scott Walters, Doug Warner, and Mike Foster; and
Whereas, the 11-member team competed against 17 other teams in five different i
lifesaving skills and rescue scenarios and won the competition by one point; and j
"'Whereas,the entire 1997 team qualified for the National Lifeguarding Championship in
Branson,Missouri, on August 8, 1997; and placed third out of seven regions representing
the entire nation, and Dave Kolda received the"Iron Guard"title for the second year in a
row; and
Whereas, the City of San Ramon Olympic Pool team demonstrated their commitment to
hard work and professionalism in this competition and as lifeguards in the San Ramon
Valley: ,
NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County congratulates the San Ramon Olympic Pool team for winning the National
Pool and Waterpark Lifeguarding Championship for the Western Region on July 16,
1997, and wishes them well in all their future endeavors.
Passed and Adopted on August 12, 1997, by a unanimous vote of Board members
present.
