IN THE MATTER OF HONORING RESOLUTION NO. 97/266
MT. VIEW SANITARY DISTRICT AS
RECIPIENT OF THE 1996 TREATMENT
PLANT OF THE YEAR AWARD
WHEREAS, Mt. View Sanitary District has served the community by providing award winning
duality service for nearly seventy-five years; and
WHEREAS, Mt. View Sanitary District has been named 1996 Treatment Plant of the Year for
the second year in a row by the Bay Section of the California Water Environment Association. They
were recognized for regulatory discharge compliance results, financial efficiency, effective
management, promoting awareness and understanding of water duality and environmental issues; and
WHEREAS, Mt. View Sanitary District has received the Public Education Award for their
Interpretive Center program. This program provides wetlands as an outdoor classroom for both
elementary students and teachers to learn more about the environmental issues and pollution
protection. The Martinez Regional Land Trust has provided grants and education to the program; and
WHEREAS, Mt. View Sanitary District was named a finalist for the 1997 Public Education
Program by the Boy Scouts of America Environmental Achievement Awards. The Sanitary District
used the treated wastewater to create a 20-acre marsh and 150 acres of wetlands for waterfowl habitat.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
does hereby honor and commend

for its' contributions to the community of Martinez and Contra Costa County.
PASSED by vote of the Board of Supervisors members present on this 3rd day of June, 1997.
