IN THE MATTER OF RECOGNIZING THE RESOLUTION NO. 97/265
GENARD AIDS FOUNDATION FOR FIVE
YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE CITIZENS
OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY
WHEREAS, the Genard AIDS Foundation was established five years ago by Marsha Genard and
Vera Ginsburg after the death of Ms. Genard's son, Steve, from AIDS; and
WHEREAS, the Genard AIDS Foundation is a private/public partnership which provides
comprehensive, multi-cultural care to people with AIDS during the last months of their lives; and the
Foundation also provides respite and hospice care for their families; and
WHEREAS, the Genard AIDS Foundation operates the Circle of Care, including the following
services: the Hospice of Contra Costa, facility-based convalescent care, the Contra Costa AIDS Quilt
Memorial Panels, the Cry-Help Hotline referrals, Horne-based Respite Care, Pals at Home
Volunteers; and
WHEREAS, the Genard AIDS Foundation provides care and services to 300-400 Contra Costa
residents annually.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County
does hereby honor and commend

for its contributions to the citizens of Contra Costa County.
PASSED by vote of the Board of Supervisors members present on this 3rd day of June, 1997.
