WHEREAS, John Nejedly has dedicated his life to public service in Contra Costa County, and
WHEREAS, as the former State Senator for District 7, the Contra Costa County District
Attorney, and the Walnut Creek City Attorney, Mr. Nejedly has made numerous contributions
to preserving and improving the quality of life for ail of our citizens; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his professional contributions, Mr. _Nejedly has always been an
extremely active community volunteer,- and
W MM AS, higher education has also been at the forefront of Mr. Nejedly's pursuits, and he
has tended his talents as a teacher at both St. Mary's College and the University of California
at Berkeley; and
WHEREAS, the prestigious Kennedy-King Memorial College Scholarship Fund is awarded
,• annually to deserving students who are pursuing a college degree; and
WHEREAS, in 1997,for his many contributions to our communities, a Kennedy-King Scholarship
will be named in honor of John Nejedly.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors recognizes JOHN
NEJEDLY for having a 1997 Kennedy-King Memorial College Scholarship named in his honor.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON May 6, 1997, by a unanimous vote of the Board members present.

THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA

ABSENT: None

SUBJECT: Discretionary Social Welfare ] Resolution No. 971 213
Programs adopted pursuant to ]
Government Code section 26227]
The Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors RESOLVES that:
Resolution No. 921698, adopting discretionary social welfare programs for general
assistance eligibles, is hereby AMENDED to modify the provisions for employable
recipients, as follows:
Program: Special Needs for General Assistance eligibles
Part a. is modified to read:
a. In order to assist employable recipients to meet the employment program
requirements of the General Assistance program, and to assist those
recipients to become self-sufficient by obtaining and maintaining
employment, allowances for work-related ancillary services may be
provided at the discretion of the Social Service Director.
I hereby certify that this is a true and correct copy of
