HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011997 - 1997-146 In the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County, California In the Matter of Declaring Resolution No. 97! 146 April 1 -April 30, 1997 As "Women's History Month"in Contra Costa County _- J Whereas, women helped found this Nation and this County as pioneer wives, mothers, teachers, servants, industrial, agricultural and child care workers; and Whereas, women continue to play important economic, cultural, and social roles in all areas of our Nation's life, contributing a significant portion of our labor force by working .inside and outside the home; and Whereas, women were early leaders in social movements to secure their right to vote, to own property, and to receive equal treatment under the law; and Whereas, despite the fact that women in Contra Costa County have contributed to the County's development and progress, too frequently their contributions and achievements have been undervalued; and Whereas, community organizations, cities, special districts and counties throughout California-will be sponsoring and attending events dedicated to the spirit of recognizing the contributions of women in the development of our nation; Now, therefore, we the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County declare April 1 through April 30, 1997 to be "Women's History Month" in Contra Costa County.
