HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011997 - 1997-125 V t r IN THE MATTER OF HONORING ] RESOLUTION NO. 97/125 AMANDA WELLS AS MARTINEZ ] 1597 YOUNG WOMAN OF THE YEAR ] WHEREAS,Amanda Wells is a scholar and athlete, and has served as a positive role model and youth leader in her community of Martinez; and WHEREAS, Amanda Wells has been involved in student leadership since Junior High School and is currently the Student Body President of Alhambra High School; and WHEREAS, Amanda Well exhibits leadership in providing events that encourage young people to exercise productive habits and behavior. Recently, she empowered students in a Civics class to put on their own assembly where community members were asked to come and speak to the student body about gangs, juvenile delinquency as well as drug and alcohol abuse; and WHEREAS,Amanda Wells serves young people in the community by providing a link between the former Club 21 (an alcohol/drug free dance club) and the young people of Martinez. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby honors and commends AA14NDA WELLS for her contributions to the city of Martinez.
