IN THE MAT TBR OF HONORING ] RESOLUTION NO. 97/121
OLGA BIER AS THE MARTINEZ
1997 'WOMAN OF THE YEAR
WHEREAS, Olga Bier has given her tireless and inspired involvement to various organizations for the betterment
of the Martinez community; and
WHEREAS, Olga Bier is a dedicated Merrithew Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer whose efforts have
inspired other volunteers to become more dedicated and involved. Her involvement has truly made a difference in
the lives of patients at Merrithew; and
WHEREAS, Olga Bier in her five years as a Merrithew Auxiliary Volunteer has spearheaded numerous successful
hand raising efforts,such as the theater party in 1995 and the luau in 1996, and under her leadership the Auxiliary
has raised more funds than any previous Auxiliary group; and
WHEREAS, Olga Bier has served in several elected offices in the Auxiliary, including serving as President for two
years. She has volunteered an average of sixty hours per month and currently spends much of her time working in
the Hospital Gift Shop.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County hereby
honors and commends

for her contributions to the city of Martinez.
