HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011997 - 1997-102 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring the ) 75th Anniversary of the Veterans ) of Foreign Wars Post No. 913 ) Resolution 97! 102 WHEREAS,March 8, 1997 marks the 75th Anniversary for the VFW, George F. Imbach Post No. 913; and WHEREAS, since its inception, this post has been a service connected organization, assisting troubled veterans, and their families; and WHEREAS, the George F. Imbach Post No. 913 is the oldest VFW post in Contra Costa County; and WHEREAS, its members are active in a variety of civil and community organizations and activities including working with the Boy Scouts and Eagle Scouts in West Contra Costa County as well as, servicing needy veterans during the Christmas season with canned goods and food baskets; and WHEREAS, Post No 913 has a National Home in Eden, Michigan that provides housing and funds for schooling for the widows and children of veterans who have passed away; and WHEREAS,this Post has a history of being involved with legislative issues regarding MIA's and POW's, Now, therefore be it resolved that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does honor and commend the VFW Post No. 913 for its outstanding contributions and community service to the County of Contra Costa and joins together in congratulating it on the occasion of its 75th anniversary celebration. PASSED AND ADOPTED on March 4, 1997,by a unanimous vote of the Board of Supervisors present.
