Adopted this order on FEB 25 1997 by the following vote:

SUBJECT
In the Matter of Confirming Benefit Levels
for Exempt Court Employees Res. No. 97190
Designated employees and Judicial Officers of the Court are exempted from the County
Merit System(County Ordinance Code Section 33-5.349) and are governed separately in
their terms and conditions of employment by authority of California Rules of Court, Rule No,
207. Pursuant to Standards of Judicial Administration Sec. 27 the Court administers an
approved personnel plan for Court appointed employees that provides for wage and job
classification, employee benefit plan, recruitment, selection, training, promotion, discipline,
and removal of employees of the court.
By direction of the Court, the salary and benefit levels of Court employees, if not
established specifically by the State, have generally conformed to those represented,
unrepresented and management classes in the County merit system whose duties and
responsibilities are similar, except that certain Court classes have been differentiated from
their merit system counterparts in type of benefits provided. These differences have
created on-going administrative difficulties and require clarification.
This Board Resolution provides that subsequent class changes, additions and deletions not
specifically contained herein will be identified by a resolution addendum to be adopted at
time of personnel action.
Therefore, in order to confirm the direction of the Court as to the level of benefits for its
various employees and to establish the necessary administrative record by which benefits
are granted, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as governing
Board of the County of Contra Costa, and all districts of which it is the ex officio governing
Board, RESOLVES THAT:
