SUBJECT: RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF )
CONTRA COSTA COUNTY IN SUPPORT OF APPLICATIONS )
BY THE TOWN OF DANVILLE FOR GRANTS TO FUND )
THE CONSTRUCTION OF A CROSSING OF THE IRON HORSE)
TRAIL AT SAN RAMON VALLEY BOULEVARD )
The Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County RESOLVES that:
WHEREAS, the County of Contra Costa has acquired title to the former Southern Pacific
right-of-way to preserve it as a multi-use facility; and
WHEREAS,the Iron Horse Trail is being developed as a major nonmotorized transportation
facility between the Carquinez Strait and the Alameda County line, partially within the former
Southern Pacific right-of-way; and
WHEREAS,development of the Iron Horse Trail is included in the County's General Plan;
and
WHEREAS,the County has worked closely with the East Bay Regional Park District and the
cities along the former Southern Pacific right-of-way to develop the Iron Horse Trail; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville is applying for grants totaling $126,101 from the
Transportation Fund for Clean Air and other sources to construct a trail crossing of the Iron Horse
Trail at San Ramon Valley Boulevard; and
WHEREAS, the Southwest Area Transportation Committee has agreed to commit $50,000
from its Transportation Fund for Clean Air guaranteed funds for this project; and
WHEREAS, the Town of Danville staff has requested the County to be a co-sponsor of this
project to help obtain the full amount of grand funding needed to complete this project.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, THAT the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa
County supports and agrees to be a co-sponsor of the applications for Transportation Fund for
Clean Air grants in the amount of$126,101 for the construction of a trail crossing of the Iron Horse
Trail at San Ramon Valley Boulevard; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT copies of this resolution be forwarded to the Town of
Danville, the East Bay Regional Park District and to the Contra Costa Transportation Authority.
