In the Matter of Declaring December 5, 1997, as )
LOUROSASDAYin Contra Costa County ) RESOLUTION NO. 971588
WHEREAS, a resident of Concord since 1985, Lou Rosas was asked to run for the Concord
City Council at the request of community groups who wanted more diversity on the Council;
and
WHEREAS, after an extensive grassroots campaign, Lou was elected to the City Council,
where he has honorably and compassionately served the citizens of Concord since November of
1993; and
WHEREAS, during his time on the Council, Lou has participated in many important decisions
such as the building of the new Brenden Theater and the retrofit of the Concord Pavilion; and
WHEREAS, Lou's involvement extends well beyond the Council's efforts, having lent his
leadership to the Contra Costa County Mayors' Conference, the Central Contra Costa Transit
Authority, the United Way Leadership Board, the Concord Pavilion Associates, and the
Conflict Resolution Panel, as well as working each year to plan the Red Ribbon Ball; and
WHEREAS, Lou is a champion for awareness of Concord's rich cultural diversity and is a
member of the Mexican-American Cultural Association, the Chinese-American Political
Association, the Concord Ambassadors, and the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; and
WHEREAS, Lou's personable style and love of Concord have made him a highly effective
councilmember; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors extends to Lou Rosas its gratitude and commendation
for a job well done and wishes him much success with his future endeavors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares December
5, 1997 as LOU ROSAS DAY in Contra Costa County in honor of the successful
completion of his term from the Concord City Council.
PASSED AND ADOPTED ON December 2, 1997, by a unanimous vote of the Board
