HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 12161997 - 97-673 THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA Adopted this Order on December 16, 1997 by the following vote: AYES: Supervisors Rogers, Uilkema, Gerber, Canciamilla, and DeSaulnier NOES: None ABSENT: None ABSTAIN: None SUBJECT: In the Matter of Amending Board resolution 97/432 ) Resolution No. 97/673 WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution Number 97/432 on August 5, 1997, providing for a cost of living increase (COLA) for Head Start management and represented employees effective January 1, 1997; WHEREAS, due to administrative oversight, four Community Services Project employees were inadvertently excluded from lump sum payments to which they are entitled; also no provision was made to provide lump sum payments to Head Start Project employees who terminated County employment between January 1, 1997 and August 31, 1997. NOW THEREFORE, the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors in its capacity as Governing Board of the County of Contra Costa, and all districts of which it is the ex-officio Governing Board, RESOLVES THAT: Board Resolution Number 97/432 is hereby amended to add the following: C) Lump Sum Payment. In addition to the classifications listed in Resolution Number 97/432, the following employees who held permanent project positions on September 30, 1997, shall be retroactively compensated back to January 1, 1997. Weeks 49477 99V8 3.02% In lieu of a retroactive pay requiring special payroll recomputation processing back to January 1, 1997, the County will make a lump sum payment to each employee for the period from January 1, 1997, through October 31, 1997, computed as follows: Employee regular pay, and specific other earnings ordinarily computed as a percentage of base pay will be added together for each applicable pay period to determine the Retro Pay Base (RPB). This base will be multiplied by the designated percent: (%). The payment amount thus computed will be added to the employees January 10, 1998 paycheck where it will be listed separately as a LUMP SUM PAYMENT and will be subject to normal tax withholding and retirement deductions requirements. All provisions regarding lump sum payments in lieu of retroactive pay shall be applicable to any and all employees who separated from County employment during the period from January 1, 1997 through August 31, 1997.
