HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 12161997 - 97-671 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring the ) DELA SALLE SPARTANS ) RESOLUTION NO. 97/671 Football Team for Breaking the ) National Consecutive Wins Record ) WHEREAS, on November 7, 1997, the De. La Salle Spartans Football Team broke the national consecutive wins record with their 73rd victory; and WHEREAS, this unprecedented winning streak is the culmination of years of excellent coaching and superb athletes working together in unison; and WHEREAS, the De La Salle athletic philosophy goes far beyond performance on the football field as the young men.who make up the Spartans learn about leadership, friendship, and teamwork while participating in this once in a lifetime experience; and WHEREAS, Coach Bob Ladouceur can be credited with demanding the most of his players yet fostering the development of the young men of the team; and WHEREAS, to top off the 73 game winning streak, or "The Streak," as it's come to be known, the Spartans have now extended the record to 76 games and ended the 1997 season by capturing their 6`h consecutive North Coast Section 4A championship; and WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors commends and congratulates De La Salle's exceptional coaching staff and the many years of athletes who contributed to this outstanding achievement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors honors the DE LA SALLE SPARTANS Football Team for breaking the national consecutive wins record and wishes the team continued success.
