HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 02131996 - 96-53 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Honoring ) McMillan's Pharmacy for ) Resolution No. 96/53 its Outstanding Contributions ) to the Richmond Community ) WHERLEAS, Jim McMillan, first established McMillan Pharmacy in Richmond, California in 1962 and continued the business until its closure in December 1995, after 28 years of service to the community; and WHEREAS, in its 28 years of operation, McMillan's Pharmacy provided a much needed service to the Richmond neighborhood it resided in, whose residents were predominately low-income and elderly; and WHEREAS, through it's proprietor, Jim McMillan, a long time Richmond resident and a former Richmond City Council member, this pharmacy was not only a business, but a friendly gathering place to the many who patronized it; and WHEREAS, Jim McMillan often visited his patrons who were hospitalized and provided rides to many of his elderly customers in need; and WHEREAS, through it's longevity of business in the community, McMillan's Pharmacy had expertise on the needs of its customers; and WBEREAS, the closure of McMillan's Pharmacy is a great loss not only to its customers, but to the entire Richmond community; and NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra Costa County does honor, recognize and commend the 28 years of service which McMillan's Pharmacy and its proprietor, Jim McMillan provided for an under served neighborhood in the Community of Richmond.
