Station and Recognizing the Station's Valuable Contribution to the Community WHEREAS,the Concord Naval Weapons Station was established in 1942 and over the next half century experienced a metamorphosis of size,mission, and importance to become the West Coast Ammunition Ocean Terminal for the.Department of Defense, and the second largest land- owner in Contra Costa County; WHEREAS,the Concord Naval Weapons Station employs approximately 1200 people in career fields ranging from administrative to physics to major trade areas and contributes greatly to the county's economy; WHEREAS,the Board of Supervisors has enjoyed a"good neighbor"relationship with the Concord Naval Weapons Station for many years; NOW,THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors does her gratefully acknowledge the mutual cooperative relationship between the county and the Concord Naval Weapons Station and recognizes the station's valuable contribution to the citizens of Contra Costa County: BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors stands ready to assist the . Concord Naval Weapons Station in implementing projects or programs to carry out its mission of national defense and enhance its long range strategic importance as a defense facility.
