HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 02151994 - 94-123 IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, STATE OF CALIFORNIA In the Matter Declaring ) February 23, 1994 "Nathan ) Shapell Day" in Contra Costa ) County ) Resolution No. 94/ 123 WHEREAS, Nathan Shapell, a survivor of the Holocaust, along with his brother and brother-in-law, has built a highly successful real estate development company that is recognized as an industry leader; and WHEREAS, Shapell Industries is recognized as a role model for corporate philanthropy with many organizations and agencies in Contra Costa County having benefited from their generosity; and WHEREAS, Nathan Shapell, having dedicated a major portion of his life to public service including 25 years of service on California's Little Hoover Commission • where he served as Chairman for 17 years and helped save taxpayers' money and improved the lives of Californians in areas that include nursing home operations, children's services, state property management, transportation, the Medi-Cal Program, and public education; and WHEREAS, on February 23, 1994, Mr. Shapell will be honored for his service on the Little Hoover Commission: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board.of Supervisors of Contra Costa County declares February 23, 1994 "Nathan Shapell Day" and joins with others in commending Nathan Shapell for his dedicated service to the citizens of the State of California and for being a positive role model for those hoping to overcome diversity.
