Albers on Attaining the Rank of Eagle Scout WHEREAS, Monte R. Albers, a member of Boy Scout Troop 93, and the son of Lucia and Monte Albers of Brentwood, California, has attained the rank of Eagle Scout and will be recognized at an Eagle Court of Honor on November 19, 1994; WHEREAS, he joined the Boy Scouts of America on June 7, 1988. He wasted no time in working toward an Eagle Scout rank, earning Tenderfoot on August 23, 1988, and becoming an Assistant Patrol Leader on February 14, 1989, a more six months later, WHEREAS, on August 8, 1989, he obtained his First Rank and was a full-fledged Patrol Leader and was honored to become a Wo/feboro Pioneer during his second visit to Wellaboro Summer Camp, WHEREAS, by September 26, 1990, Monte had earned five additional merit badges and had become a Star Scout. He left the patrols and made the 'big man" transition into the senior patrol as the Troop Scribe and joined the SSS Renaissance Ship 93; WHEREAS, he earned the Life Rank on August 21, 1991, his enthusiasm and strong ambition drove him to overshoot the needed requirements for this achievement. During this same time, he made the biggest leadership jump in his scouting career when he became the troop's Senior Patrol Leader. He also had begun his advancement within his ship, earning his Apprentice Rank, WHEREAS, Monte continued to set his goal on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout earning the required merit badges and embarking on his Eagle Scout Project. This was around the time of the Polly Klass kidnapping and Monte, along with the rest of the country and the world, was deeply moved by this tragic incident and got the idea to fingerprint children for his Eagle Scout project to help prevent similar tragedies. Monte planned and supervised the fingerprinting of over 400 children at County East Mall on February 26 & 27, 1994; WHEREAS, in addition to his outstanding achievements in scouting, Monte is also active in church activities at Immaculate Heart of Mary, participates in sports and is an honor student at De La Salle High School, where hs was lead prosecuting attorney in the Mock Trial program; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors hereby congratulates and commends Monte R. Albers on attaining the rank of Eagle Scout and commends him for outstanding dedication to scouting and for serving as an exemplary role model for other young people.
