HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 11081994 - 94-556 (2) IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA In the Matter of Rasolatism No.94/556 Proclaiming December 3, 1994, as 'Holiday Ron sad Walk Apinst Orsks Day' in Contra Costa County WHEREAS, the Holiday Run and Walk Against Drugs, sponsored by the Delta Kiwonis to benefit community youth groups, will take place on Saturday, December 3, 1994; WHEREAS, the Holiday Run and Walk Against Drugs and drug free school runs is endorsed by the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors as a drug-free activity for our youth and families promoted in the Contra Costa Communitywide Drug and Alcohol Action Plan (A Partnership for a Drug Free Contra Costa); WHEREAS, the Holiday Run and Walk Against Drugs serves as the finale event for the series of Drug Free School Runs held during Red Ribbon Week in October and planned and organized by the staff of Delta 2000; WHEREAS, fighting substance abuse is not simply a one-time, one-week battle. The ravages of drug and alcohol abuse, the risks that exist for all our families and friends present us with a year-round challenge; WHEREAS, this drug free event is another significant effort in the battle against substance abuse and the promotion of self-esteem in our young people; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors hereby proclaims Saturday, December 3, 1994, as 'Holiday Ree sed Wilk Almost DreEs Day'in Contra Costa County and urges citizens, cities, schools, community organizations, businesses, and governmental agencies to participate in this activity to strongly declare our county's commitment to fight substance abuse and promote a drug-free and healthy lifestyle.
