HomeMy WebLinkAboutRESOLUTIONS - 01011993 - 1993-563 /t Ar IN 771E BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, ,STATE OF CALIFORNM In the Matter of Declaring October 1993 as ARTS AND HUMANITIES MONIN ) RESOLU770N NO. 93/563 in Costa County WHEREAS, the arts and humanities enhance and enrich the lives of all Americans; and WHEREAS, the arts and humanities affect every aspect of life in America today including the economy, social problems and solutions, the job market, education,>creativity, and community enhancement; and WHEREAS, the National Cultural Alliance and the California Campaign for the Arts and Humanities have developed a public awareness campaign in California, which includes televised ...publicservice announcements and print advertisements on the importance rrf the humanities and arts to all Americans; and WHEREAS, 23,000 cultural organizations nationwide, as well as the President of the United States, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the .Humanities, California Confederation of the Arts,: and California Assembly of Local Arts Agencies>support the public awareness campaign and are encouraging participation in the public awareness campaign; and WHEREAS, the California Legislature is putting forth a resolution' declaring October "Multicultural Awareness Month"to encourage the people of California to participate in cultural events that celebrate the myriad of cultural and artistic expression of California's multiracial and multiethnic humanity; and WHEREAS, the month of October has been designated as National Arts and Humanities Month. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Supervisors declares October 1993 as ARM AND HUMANITIES MONTH in Contra Costa County.
