In the Matter Congratulating
the Exchange Club of Richmond
Can the Occasion of its Fiftieth )
Year of Community Service )
Resolution No. 93/5 0 5
VTHEREAS, on September 10, 1343, the Exchange Club of Richmond, California
was chartered with seventy-three members; and
VvFHEREAS, as one of the outstanding service clubs in the community, the Club
was instrumental in starting; the Richmond Boys Club, participated in developing;
Camp Seabow for the Girl Scouts and Campfire Girls, has continuously supported
the YMCA and furnished uniforms for the Los Chicanos Boys Club; and
WHEREAS, the Exchange Club of Richmond annually honors the Richmond
Police Officer and Fire Fighter of the Year; awards a college scholarship to an
outstanding graduate of the Richmond high schools and presents an award to a
local business and local resident who proudly and properly display the Flag; and
WHEREAS, together with the National Exchange Club, the Exchange Club of
Richmond supports child abuse prevention programs and gives out thousands of
American Flags as part of the Club's "Give a Kid a Flag to Wave Program"; and
WHEREAS, over the years, the Exchange Club of Richmond has had many
distinguished members who will be remembered for their contributions to the
betterment of the community:
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Board of Supervisors of Contra
Costa County commends the Exchange Club of Richmond for its 50 years of
dedicated service to the community through a wide range of humanitarian and
patriotic activities; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the members of the Exchange Club of
Richmond are to be recognized for their civic responsibility and are encouraged to
continue their participation in programs which' benefit the youth in their
community.
