IN THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA'
In the Matter of }
Commending the Martinez )'
Manufacturing Complex of=) '
the Shell Oil Company ) Resolution' No.93/284
WHEREAS the Martinez Manufacturing Complex of the Shell Oil
Company" is a dynamic force in the economy of the Countyand
significant presence in the structure of our community; and
WHEREAS the Martinez Complex has been recognized by its parent
organization for superiority during 1992 in the areas of health,
safety, the environment and operations for hard work, dedication,
and commitment toward achieving the Company's overall' objectives'
and providing a safe' place in which to work; and
WHEREAS Martinez Complex received Shell's "Best Manufacturing
Location Award" for the third year in a row recognizing outstanding
overall performance, was given the "Environmental Excellence Award"
for the fourth straight year, and again' the "Safety Award for
Excellence"; and in; addition, received the National Petroleum
Refinery Association's "Distinguished Safety Award" for attaining
a superior .level of safety performance in the petroleum refining
industry; and
WHEREAS the excellent performance of the Martinez Manufacturing
Complex employees reflects highly not .`only, on their Company but on
the entire Contra Costa community';
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT BY THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS OF THE COUNTY OF
CONTRA COSTA, CALIFORNIA, RESOLVED that the Martinez Manufacturing
Complex of the Shell Oil Company is COMMENDED for its superior
performance 'during 1992.
PASSED by unanimous vote of the Board Members present on this 4th
day of May, 1993:
I hereby certify that the foregoing is a true and +correct copy, of
a resolution entered in the minutes of said Board of Supervisors on
the date aforesaid.
