IN THE MATTER; OF PROMOTING
The week of May 23-29, 1993 as:
"Emergency Medical Services Week"
WHEREAS, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Week> is a time to acknowledge the
contribution that Emergency Medical Services professionals 'make to their community
every day.
WHEREAS, it is an opportunity to educate;members of the public that they, by
accessing the EMS system early, may be the most important factor in saving a life.
WHEREAS, it is also an opportunity to generate public understanding and support
of EMS as a vital public service.
WHEREAS, the'theme for this year's >EMS Weekobservance is Ernergen„gy Medical,
Service Were Ready—Are You?
WHEREAS, this theme reminds the public that EMS providers are skilled and
dedicated individuals ready to provide life-saving assistance whenever it is needed and
emphasizes' that members of the public need to prepare for the important role they play in
the EMS system.,
WHEREAS, the Emergency Medical Care Committee is encouraging hospitals,
ambulance agencies, and other EMS providers to organize activities that enhance the
effectiveness of EMS by educating local residents on injury and illness prevention, an
how to recognize and respond to a medical emergency, and on the appropriate use of the
EMS system.
NOW, THEREFORE, LET IT BE RESOLVED THAT THE 'BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
OF CONTRA COSTA COUNTY, CALIFORNIA, proclaim the week of May 23 - 29, 1993
"Emergency Medical Services Week" in Centra Casts County.
